Northland male Dogue de Bordeaux’s are screened for heart and hip soundness, and are highly scrutinized for correct Dogue de Bordeaux type and temperament. The males currently used in our breeding program are included in this section.
Northland’s Otis has exceptional Dogue de Bordeaux type. He is stocky, very short in the muzzle, and his head size is exceptionally large in relation to his 24.5 inch height. Otis has a superbly well balanced temperament. He is less active and is on the lower end of the “dominance spectrum” for the breed, yet he exhibits the confident and imposing presence that is characteristic in the Dogue de Bordeaux breed.
Northland’s Finn attained his AKC Championship before age 18 months and has already made his mark in Europe by winning Best Junior In Show at the 2008 SADB French National Specialty Show. We are particularly proud of the French National win since it is the largest, most prestigious Dogue de Bordeaux competition in the World with over 300 dogues entered. A panel of four world-renowned European judges selected Northland’s Finn as the best of over 50 Juniors (12-18 month old dogues). Finn is 25.5 inches at the shoulder and weighs in at 155 pounds. Finn’s Penn Hip test scores place him in the greater than 90th percentile for the Dogue De Bordeaux group, and of course, Finn exhibits the athleticism and soundness that Northland Bordeaux is known for.

Northland’s Dumais has had an exceptional and impressive show career both in the United States and abroad. His massive head, heavily muscled body and fiery temperament tend to impress in the ring. Despite his sizeable frame (25.5 inches at the shoulder and 155 pounds), Dumais is a tremendous athlete as evidenced by the photos in his gallery.
